Catch a Star 2021/22

The European Association for Astronomy Education (EAAE) and the European Southern Observatory (ESO) organize again the astronomy contest “Catch a Star”.

The idea of the contest “Catch a Star” is to encourage students to work together, to learn about astronomy, and to discover things for themselves by researching information about an astronomical object. The goal of the European Astronomy Contest “Catch a Star” is to stimulate the creativity and independent work of students from European secondary schools, to strengthen and expand their astronomical knowledge and skills, and to help the spread of information technologies in the educational process.

The teams that present the best projects will receive special prizes from ESO and will participate in video meetings with professional astronomers from ESO and other European observatories. For the first time in the twenty-year history of the competition, the announcement and presentation of the best projects will be during a final video conference.

“Catch a Star 2021″ will start on November 1, 2021. The deadline to send the projects is February 28, 2022. The final conference and the award ceremony will be on March 20, 2022.

The conditions for student participation, the project requirements, the prizes and all important dates for the competition will be presented on the website of the competition “Catch a Star 2021”.
